There was no competition during BAKUNAWA 7 because this was the first year of the pandemic and lockdowns but Bakunawa Festival was one of the very few first festivals in the Philippines that had a full program online.
This was also the first time that Bakunawa Festival had opening and closing films. Because of this distinction, the films are informally cited.

FESTIVAL STATEMENT
Planet of the Noses Sketches by veteran animator and filmmaker ROXLEE is our "Visions of a Bakunawa Shaman" this year. Bakunawa Young Cinema believes that young filmmakers and artists must look back to the past and those who have paved the way for them to enjoy the spirit of independence and creative imagination. Visions of a Bakunawa Shaman is an emblem in our annual selections that means the film is created by someone whose body of work we look up to with our highest respects. With our tagline "The Age of Uncertainty is the time to be Unorthodox", it is fitting that Master Rox should be in the house!
